I'm heading to New York next week for Comic Con! I'll be in Artist's Alley in booth J9 - I'm super excited! I have a special edition print designed just for the convention and I will be debuting a teaser for my comic The Valkyrie's Wode!

I've really missed the comic convention scene and I've had to miss it for a few years while I was tattooing and then when I was on the Ink Master TV show - this year I'm starting to get back into it. For the fans that have been going to these conventions all these years and supporting the comic book industry I wanted to do something nice.

So... for every print that is purchased, you get your name entered into a drawing for a $1000 tattoo... AND you get to jump to the front of my two year waiting list!

Can't wait to see you all there, stop by and say hi!
I go a long time between entries to update... sorry.

So I came in second on Ink Master. Not too shabby for someone tattooing for only seven years now. This month, today actually, is the anniversary of when I started tattooing in 2006. Ashley Claypool was my roommate in college at the time, a kick ass artist and tattooist. She saw my art and convinced me to try my  hand at tattooing, of which I was really stubborn and it took her a few months to convince me. I am so grateful that she did. That moment changed my life.

I might not have taken the craft seriously at first, it was something that brought me happiness as I tried to figure out the new medium. I tattooed part time for several years at a few of the local shops around Pittsburgh, but it wasn't until 2009 that I came to make a really hard decision. I was working for a graphic design firm and tattooing after I got off at night - between the two jobs I was putting in over 80 hours a week. The graphic job was steady, full benefits, and above average pay. I wasn't making that much tattooing. My friends and family cautioned me to give up tattooing and keep working at the job I had, but with every day I was going into the office, something was dying inside of me. In the end, despite everyone telling me to take the safe route I quit my job and devoted everything into tattooing.

I got a job at Jester's Court in December 2009, and attended my first convention as an artist a few months later in Baltimore. I thought I was pretty good until I walked around that convention, seeing what people could actually do with the medium. I was so humbled. From that point onward I redoubled my efforts, working 7 days a week, 12 hours a day or more, struggling to improve to the point where other artists looked at my tattoos and marveled the same way I marveled at that first convention.

I've come a long way, since then. In no way, however, am I complacent. There are still vast possibilities out there, new ideas to pursue, and improvement on my own part to achieve. Thank you to everyone who supported me on the show, who has looked at and appreciated my art. You guys are the reason I'm able to  succeed.
Well, the third episode has aired. What do you guys think of Americana Traditional tattoos? I think that all the contestants did WAY better than the judges gave credit for, and still.... there wasn't a best tattoo. Thoughts?

ALSO - voting is open! If you liked my tattoos follow this link and vote for me! www.spike.com/shows/ink-master…

Well, a lot has gone on since my last entry. I've started my own tattoo shop, started traveling the convention circuit, and have pretty much been working every day since January.

I'm starting to get back into illustrating as I get more time back to myself, and I have a lot of freelance work that once I finish I will post.

Thanks for following me!

Just got back from the Baltimore tattoo arts convention - it was pretty epic! Dave Nestler was there, lots of amazing tattoo artists, I got a tattoo that won first place for tattoo of the day on Saturday...

and I took home FIRST PLACE for the tattoo that I did of Schin Loong's 'A Brief Glimpse'! (:iconluciole:) The tattoo was entered in the XL female color category and there was some steep competition! Can't believe it....

The best weekend of my life.
I'm working on a tattoo for my friend Kylee - we are recreating Luciole's painting 'A Brief Glimpse' as a tattoo! We have 7 hours in so far, and another 30 to go... this is going to be my masterpiece!

If you want to see updates in real time add me on Facebook!

This is going to be GREAT!

Thanks to Luciole for letting me try this crazy awesomeness! Check out her art here: luciole.deviantart.com/
Haha, I'm not really that good at keeping up with journals...

Started working at Jester's Court tattooing in December. So far I'm loving it - have gone to a few conventions and have my sights set on winning some trophies! Gotta hell of a back-up on times for clients to get tattooed so working couldn't be better. I decided to take a break from college life again - financial stuff. Also time, working full and working full aren't quite mixing.

I'm going to upload some of my newer works over the next few days as soon as I can get the pics from my boss. He has the camera LOL! Let me know what you guys think!
I'm going back to school for animation. Graphic Design, while satisfying to finish work and GET work for doing stuff like menus, etc., I'm not sure if it is right for me. I was originally going to go for animation so I'm going to jump on this and work my butt off. Hopefully I will get some better skills out of this... conceptually...

4) FanGirl T-shirt from Manga Next I WILL SEND IT I PROMISE!!
5) Ethan: 5 page comic (1/5 IP)

Working again... at an Ad company. It's okay, not really any time for me to do stuff I want to do (i.e. draw) but I'm trying to make the effort. I picked up a set of Tarot cards the other day - really fun. I want to try my hand at designing a set... wishful thinking perhaps.

Orphan Works Bill *URGENT*

ANY ARTIST THAT wants copyright law to exist in the future needs to look into this. The government is looking to pass this bill that will take away our rights to any work that we have done, EVER. The purpose of the bill is supposed to open up art works that the originator has died and help museums without having to worry about getting sued by an artist. In REALITY, if a piece of work isn't registered (the artist must pay to register it) anyone can use it without paying the artist. The Illustrator's Partnership is opposing this bill, if you want to look into their actions against the Orphan Works Bill, go here: www.illustratorspartnership.or…

To oppose this bill, send them an e-mail at illustratorspartnership@cnymail.com and ask to be put on their list of people who oppose this bill.

To listen to an mp3 of an interview about this bill, go here: www.sellyourtvconceptnow.com/o…

The dude who started this is Peter Jaszi and you can find his side of the story here: www.ala.org/ala/pressreleases2…

I'm usually pretty passive about stuff like this. but we need to take a stand NOW.

Well, I graduated! I'm officially done with college. On an amazing note, on graduation day I won Best of Show Employer's Choice for my display and portfolio, had 3 interviews, and found a job where I am happily working right now! Linkstar Interactive is the place, and I'm doing web design. Completely awesome!

This weekend was the Romantic Times convention in Pittsburgh, PA, and the debut of an animation project that I worked on, "The Writer's Life", written by Anne Elizabeth, a published author. You can find a link to it on here website here: anneelizabeth.net though I'm not sure that it's up just yet. I was the Art Director for the whole thing, so it was amazing to see the reactions that people had to the finished product. I got to sign autographs too!

I'll be working on getting more art put up here as I finish it, as well as finishing my back commissions. Thank you all for your patience, and I'll be working on your stuff asap.

Anime Festival in NYC is coming up soon. I'm sure I'll see a few of you there! Note me, and I'll look for you; I'll be in the Artist's Alley the majority of the time. Might float around a bit. If anyone has ideas of a product (or pairing) that they would like me to make, just let me know and I'll do my best to make it.

EDIT:
I'm sharing a table with the awesome and talented :iconeshemilana:! She is amazing, I love her line art soooooo much! I'll be coloring some for the Con, so check out the limited edition prints while we're there!

Christmas and the Holidays are coming up, and as a broke college student... I'm sure you get my drift, lol. But if you wanna support me, it might make me draw more! I have stuff here at DeviantArt too, but at CafePress I have these really cool journals for sale. Check'm out! www.cafepress.com/wsstudio

Projects:

1) Yaoi commission from Tekkoshocon '06 Finished
2) Aya commission from Sharon Hoot :in progress:
3) Dimentional Design Project (school) 60% complete
4) Ad Campaign 50% complete
5) Web site & banner :in progress:
6) Original Comic not even started

I quit the comic I was working on. My boss was awesome to talk to, very inspired, but didn't really get back to me to answer questions. I couldn't finish work unless OKed by him, so nothing got done. That's okay, I'm gonna stick to school mainly from now on, and I'm not going to be taking any more commissions. It was a good opportunity if I could have had less school work and better communication, and I was looking forward to working on the title but oh well. School comes first.

Speaking of which, this quarter is hell. Homework upon homwork, and guess what? I got sick again! Sick with the Pittsburgh flu. It's nasty, I had 104 degree fever, complete with chills. Doesn't the flu only last a day? This one stayed for 6 days. I'm still sick too. Bleah....... And finals are next week! Joy!

I'm gonna be posting some of the art I'm working on for class, so let me know if ya like it. Some concept art will be going up too.

If you wanna buy a print go right ahead, or if you are interested in other merchendise let me know and I'll submit art for that (like a mug or somthing).

OMG I got the job at the comic book studio!! I've been in negotiations for over a month, but I'm hired! *happy dance* Dammit but I really need to finish my commission from Tekko, but some A******* stole my wacom pen! Arrrugh! I need to get a new one... and finish it.

Also, just got over the worst case of strep and tonsilitis in HISTORY I'm sure. I was sick for over 3 weeks... with the RELAPSE! Feeling much better now and the antibiotics were wonderful. That is, if you like horse needles. >.<;

School is going okay... pulled an all-nighter on Mon because I thought a project was due Tues AM. Wasn't.

Anywho, I'm going to school to talk with my department head. Later!

tagged!

Mon Apr 10, 2006, 9:37 PM
Projects:

1) Yaoi commission from Tekkoshocon '06 :In Progress:

:icondoop: Tagged me.... I must continue...

Rules : The 1st player of this "game" starts with the topic "6 weird habits/things about yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a journal about their 6 weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" in their devpage comments and tell them to read yours....

1) I like yaoi.....

2) And caffieeeeeeeeeene....

3) I have a pregnant cat. No joke.

4) I can go for 4 days without sleep. Trust me on this one.... or rather my professors....

5) When I'm sleep deprived, you have never seen someone so hyper... and random, and just giddy. Unless you have seen me today in which case I make Itachi look like a chubby little cherub, because a certain little feline *coughcatcough* refuses to have her babies and I have been up waiting for them for the past.... *ahem* Since Thursday.

6) I do better work drawing for school or commissions.

sweetness..... now for the doom....

I'll tag:
